SU is now active again

http://forums.shopupgraded.com/thread-148.html

Explains the terms & conditions under which SU is now active again. Shortly a move to update all files to 1.3.9h zen cart (with correction of their errors and the full module list will happen), first there requires some maintenance and so below is the beginning.

10.06 Released

Shop Upgraded 10.06 was released yesterday slightly ahead of schedule. We have moved to an installer instead of downloading a zip file and then unzipping it and re-uploading it to another server.

The installer is located here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/shopupgraded/

and the reasoning behind it's use/ creation are listed in the forums here:

http://forums.shopupgraded.com/thread-126.html

Also the forum gives details of the next version and alternative downloads. I'll be updating the modules list as soon as possible.

10.06 Status and features

The 10.06 release is a cumulative release of patches. Users of 10.04 will not need to re-install as their systems will update automatically. Anyone installing 10.04 will also be auto updated so there's no reason to wait :)

There are two new modules in 10.06

  • Grid By Attributes
  • Back in Stock notifications

10.06 is mainly to now get everything prepared for the new automatic updating system, which will be clearer and easier to use.

Fluid Development - Getting the latest version.

Just because SU 10.04 was released does not mean that development has stopped, nor that you need to wait another 6 months for the next version.

Install 10.04 and immediately it starts to update itself. The analogy is more akin to installing Windows except that after a (currently undetermined time) we'll update the zip file with a new version number and issue another patch to update the 10.04 version number, ensuring that every shop is bug free, up to date and secure.

It's like getting Windows 7 and a free set of updates and then one day it's windows version 8.

New Screenshots

Matt's created screen shots of all 75 template/ overlay combinations. Thanks. The only one missing the original Zen Cart template.

I've repositioned the link at the top of the page. (any drupal help about how to add Image Gallery creation permissions to a user that is not the user/1 would really come in handy).

10.04 Project Review

What we wanted.

We started out fixing Zen Cart 1.3.8a so that it would run on PHP 5.3 so that we would have a stable basis for this project. We wanted:

  • Shop Owner orientation
  • Increased performance
  • A balance between designer/ developer and store owner needs
  • A built in set of modules
  • More admin control over layout
  • Increased security
  • An open development model
  • Tax Legal invoicing

Were the goals met ?

Us

We are not Zen Cart, nor members of the ZC development team, nor do we produce Zen cart.

Now that I've got who we are not out of the way...

We are multiple developers, a couple of great bug spotters and contributors, 1 consultant and a person (that would be me, the writer of most of this website and the blogger).

Module Freeze for ShopUpgraded and cool features

We now have a module freeze (although I haven't updated the list). 3 cool and shop owner useful modules were submitted and integrated fully into the project this weekend.

Thank you to everyone. All other submissions will be considered and placed in the optional section with "tick to install" if appropriate.

Communicating directly with your customers

Patched 5.3 version 1.42 released up to 200% increase in database speed.

As promised I have ported some ShopUpgraded Code back into Zen Cart Patched 5.3 and it's now available on SourceForge here https://sourceforge.net/projects/shopupgraded/files/

This code is database caching code to stop some unfortunate events that have been discovered while auditing the default Zen Cart code. In one case we found a combination of shipping, tax zones, attributes and faulty Zen cart original shipping modules were putting up to 9000 queries into the database on the shopping cart page.
